RACE 1: THE WINE SOCIETY HCP 1300m Fav: Star Folly ($2.50) 3rd Weather: Fine. Track: Dead/Good.

GUY Walter had assigned IMANA to stakes events right up to the level of the group 1 Coolmore Classic through her previous eight outings. The racy chestnut relished a return to mere fillies and mares handicap company.

This toey miss did sweat a shade pre-race but her class carried her ahead of DOUBLOON which box-seated and didn't possess the acceleration to claim victory.

Little STAR FOLLY disappointed. In excellent order, the brown cruised outside stablemate SEA SEARCH before battling her way down the stretch.

1. IMANA: D & Mrs M Koureas, G & T Markos, P Di Campli's ch m 5y (Thunder Gulch (USA) - Zarissa (NZ) 57.5 carr 55.5 4 (K Fujii, Trainer: Guy Walter) drifted back to settle 6th, enjoyed the healthy pace set up front and was taken three wide on the turn to improve, sustained a long run in the straight to go on and score a well overdue win ($3.40 $3.90 $3.80).

2. DOUBLOON: b f 3y (Desert Prince (Ire) - Rain In Spain) 53 2 (R Quinn, Trainer: John Hawkes) settled 3rd and enjoyed the run of the race to the turn where she was now looking for the way clear, the run finally came near the 200m and she tried hard from that point but needed to be clear earlier to do her best (4.20 6.00) len.

3. STAR FOLLY: br m 5y (Canny Lad - Star Of Danehill) 55 carr 53 7 (Ms K O'Hara, Trainer: Gwenda Markwell) pushed forward from the widest gate to sit outside the leader (Sea Search), joined that mare near the 200m and edged into a slight lead but was claimed soon after by the winner and was then claimed late by Doubloon (2.50 2.80 2.50 fav) len, lg nk.

4. SEA SEARCH: 53 6 (Dale Spriggs) led travelling inside the favourite to the turn, was claimed near the 200m and tired over the concluding stages (10.00 17.00) 2.9len.

5. PRINCESS DANI: 53 1 (M A Cahill) 7th turn (14.00 31.00) 3len.

6. Zinzin: 58.5 carr 56.5 5 (W Pearson) settled 4th trailing the favourite in the run, became crowded on the turn before finding clear running near the 250m, plugged away at the one pace in a creditable effort first-up (7.50 11.00) 3.1len.

7. Lady Frisco: 53 3 (J Penza) 5th turn (10.00 9.00) 3.2len.

All started.

Time: 1m17.35s (last 600m 37.12). Off: 11.55.

RACE 2: MMB PRINT HCP 1100m Equal fav's: Up'N'Doing 1st, Attend 3rd ($3.10)

JETBALL filly UP'N'DOING had been treated to three barrier trials before her first fair dinkum test - yet she still found a trick under pressure.

The bay led and seemed set for a solid success until she decided to veer left under pressure. This move enabled MY LADY'S CHAMBER to get close, but not close enough.

The second one parked midfield and ran home keenly but did have her chance to claim the winner.

Both fillies were obviously primed for their debut so this is about as fast as they can go at present but ATTEND wasn't as trim. Last and bailed up for several strides, the Xaar (GB) filly looked smart in a previous barrier trial and this display confirmed her promise. She's possibly the best one here.

1. UP'N'DOING: Estate Of The Late Bruce Reid's b f 2y (Jetball - Bektris) 55 2 (L Beasley, Trainer: Graeme Rogerson) pressed forward to lead and travelled kindly in the run to the turn, held a clear advantage near the 200m but began to drift out under pressure over the last 100m and all but threw the race away ($2.50 $3.10 eq fav).

2. MY LADY'S CHAMBER: ch f 2y (Arena - Queen's Suite) 55 3 (M Bell, Trainer: Bill Prain) settled 4th and trailed Casabianca in the run, was taken three wide on the turn to improve and battled on gamely to almost claim the winner as that filly hung out near the line (4.60 8.00) 1/2hd.

3. ATTEND: b f 2y (Xaar (GB) - Symbol) 55 4 (R Brewer, Trainer: Bob Thomsen) settled second last, she was still in that spot on the turn and did become unbalanced at the 300m, she plugged away without looking a winning threat over the last 250m (2.50 3.20 3.10 eq fav) 1/2hd, 21/2len.

4. SHOW'EM BABE: 55 5 (B Stanley) drifted back to settle last racing outside Attend in the run, made her final effort with that filly but Attend clearly hit the line best of the pair when it counted (5.50 10.00 9.50) 4.2len.

5. WOOLWICH WOMAN: 55 1 (Z Purton) missed the start then pushed through to settle third racing on the rails trailing the winner to the home turn, enjoyed every chance on the day but was left behind over the concluding stages (4.40 4.60) 5.5len.

6. Casabianca: 53.5 6 (G Ryan) 2nd to the turn (15.00 31.00 26.00) 6.2len.

Scr: Mistifies (2), Rena's Lady (7).

Time: 1m05.95s (last 600m 35.26s).

Off: 12:31.

RACE 3: HARVEY NORMAN HCP 1200mFav: Fox Lake ($1.50) 2nd

BOOM galloper FOX LAKE - widely considered to be a good thing - was ridden like one. Unfortunately for ultra-brave punters, the 'good thing' tag proved ill-founded.

Goulburn's much-vaunted galloper made his own luck at the head of the field after little RESISTOR allowed him to take control. For most of the trip favourite backers were sweet on themselves, yet dismay crept in nearing the 200m when Fox Lake didn't kick. Yes, he rallied, but not enough to recapture the lead.

Underrated, Danehill (USA) gelding Resistor seems to have come up better than ever.

GATOR did best of the swoopers with GILDED YOUTH posting a fast final 400m. Both big fellas, they lack tactical speed so everything needs to go right for them to land a win.

1. RESISTOR: Burst Pty Ltd Syndicate's b g 5y (Danehill (USA) - Volte) 53.5 5 (R Brewer, Trainer: Bob Thomsen) led early before easing to sit outside Fox Lake in second spot, faced the breeze all the way to the turn where he drifted wide under pressure but rallied when asked to improve near the 300m and did slightly the best work over the final 200m ($5.00 $7.00).

2. FOX LAKE: b g 4y (Shovhog - Round Lake) 54 carr 52 7 (K Fujii, Trainer: Danny Williams) pressed forward to cross and lead travelling inside Resistor to the turn where he pinched a slight break on the winner, was claimed near the 200m by Resistor looking set to surrender meekly, but he kept trying only to find the winner a shade too strong (1.50 1.60 1.45 1.50 fav) 3/4len.

3. GATOR: b/br g 4y (Quest For Fame (GB) - Crocodile) 56 6 (R Quinn, Trainer: John Hawkes) angled back from the wide gate to settle 5th, raced outside Breeze Past to the turn where taken very wide to improve, tried hard in a battle for the minor placing to shade 4th and 5th on the line (7.00 8.00) 3/4len, 1/2len.

4. BREEZE PAST: 53 1 (Dale Spriggs) settled at the rear after a slow start, was still last on the turn where asked to improve between runners, battled away honestly from the 350m but it should be noted he enjoyed a race fitness edge on some here (14.00 21.00) 1.8len.

5. FORCE APOLLO: 57.5 4 (M Cahill) settled 3rd and trailed the winner in the run to the turn, at no stage did he look a winning threat and his run was ending on the line with his big weight (13.00 20.00 18.00) 1.9len.

6. Gilded Youth: 55 3 (Brent Stanley) last to the turn (21.00 41.00) 2.3len.

7. Silver Street: 53 2 (G Ryan) 4th settling, 3rd turn (26.00 41.00) 4.9len.

Scr: Box Head Prince (5).

Time: 1m10.47s (last 600m 34.48s). Off: 1.05.

RACE 4: INGHAMS LOVE'EM HCP (C3) 1400mFav: Riverine ($3.50) 6th

THE top three mares in the handicaps filled the placings this time which suggests those weighted underneath them will struggle.

We've seen a fair bit of most them, aside from RIVERINE which looked the part, positioned perfectly, then came up empty at full bore.

SKY RIGHT is a different matter. The Hurricane Sky mare is now eight runs into her career and her recent displays indicate a bright future. The bay certainly puts in with relish when asked to sprint.

SOB STORY doesn't possess the same acceleration but her run was encouraging. By Zabeel, she's seeking further through this campaign while BELLA ARENA did okay at her second-up assignment, fighting back tenaciously nearer the inner.

1. SKY RIGHT: P J & Mrs D K Ward, J D Clark, M Ramunno, C Page & A G McWhirter's b m 5y (Hurricane Sky - Sounds Right (NZ) 55 carr 53 8 (Ms K O'Hara, Trainer: Guy Walter) angled across to settle second last, raced three wide without cover for the duratuion then was taken to the extreme outside on the turn, continually gained ground and did slightly the best work on the line ($2.80 $4.20 $3.90 $4.00).

2. SOB STORY: b m 4y (Zabeel (NZ) - Tearrunner (USA) 56.5 7 (L Beasley, Trainer: Gai Waterhouse) raced outside the leader (Riverine) to the turn, took a slight lead near the 200m looking the likely winner only to find Sky Right a shade too strong when it counted (7.00 8.50 8.00) nk.

3. BELLA ARENA: ch m 4y (Arena - Belle Indian (NZ) 56 3 (D Spriggs, Trainer: Ken Callaughan) settled in third spot trailling the favourite (Riverine) to the turn, sustained a strong run to near the line in a game effort as it should be noted the first pair finished wider out on the track (8.00 10.00 7.00 8.00) nk, hd.

4. DIAMONDS'N'PEARLS: 53 carr 51.5 5 (K Fujii) settled 4th trailing Sob Story in the run to the turn, enjoyed the run of the race on the day but over the final stages others hit the line stronger (17.00 21.00 16.00) 1.6len.

5. FLURO FEVER: 54.5 6 (M A Cahill) 5th settling, 6th turn (4.40 5.50 4.20) 2.6len.

6. Riverine: 53 2 (Z Purton) jumped quickly and led on settling with Sob Story racing at her quarters, was pushed along to improve soon after straightening but was claimed soon after by Sob Story and tired over the final 150m (3.40 3.80 3.50 fav) 2.8len.

7. Strategic Answer: 53 10 (B Stanley) 8th turn (41.00 81.00 71.00 81.00) 4.2len.

8. Beaut Song: 53 1 (G Buckley) 6th settling, 5th to turn (41.00 71.00) 6.3len.

9. Second Guess: 53 9 (R Quinn) 10th to turn (31.00 51.00 41.00) 7.3len.

10. Star Promise: 53 4 (M Bell) 8th settling, 9th to turn (41.00 61.00 41.00) 8.7len.

All started.

Time: 1m23.85s class record (last 600m 34.65s). Off: 1:45.

RACE 5: AUSSIE MASTERCARD HCP (C3) 1400mFav: Strada ($2.90) 2nd

IMPRESSIVE types filled the placings in this truly-run class 3.

A maiden going into the race, COMMANDING VICTORY had promised much in six previous tasks and finally justified Steve Englebrecht's faith. Thanks to a testing tempo, the near-black colt overwhelmed pacemaker STRADA.

Just a cracking individual, Danehill's son Strada ran a phenomenal race considering the first 800m figure of 46.63s. Challenged several times in running, he treated those foes with disdain. The combination of inexperience and tempo beat him, rather than a superior racehorse. He's group class.

FRIDAY CREEK also found the line keenly with WHISTLING BOB again inclined to work himself up badly in the mounting yard. Excitability, not ability lets this one down.

1. COMMANDING VICTORY: J M Cockburn, V Currao & J Vartuli's br c 3y (Commands - Victory Crown) 54.5 carr 52.5 5 (Ms K O'Hara, Trainer: Steve Englebrecht) settled 8th, 7th on the turn where angling wider, made his run on the extreme outside as did the previous winner and in a replica performance did a shade the best work late ($11.00 $15.00).

2. STRADA: b c 3y (Danehill (USA) - Shindig (NZ) 54.5 8 (L Beasley, Trainer: Gai Waterhouse) worked across from the wide gate to lead, was joined by Cresta Run near the 800m but beat that horse off near the 200m, had no answer to the winners' finish but the effort was good as he had no peace in running ($2.80 3.20 2.60 2.90 fav) len.

3. FRIDAY CREEK: b g 3y (Commands - Candles) 57 2 (M A Cahill, Trainer: Matthew Dale) drifted back to settle 6th, still 6th on the turn where he was asked to improve wide out but inside the winner, tried hard from the 350m but was left behind when it counted by Commanding Victory (4.40 7.50 6.50 7.00) len, 11/2len.

4. WHISTLING BOB: 54.5 4 (G Ryan) settled 4th, still 4th on the turn where he made his run to the inside of Friday Creek, failed to look a winning threat in the straight and others did hit the line stronger in the concluding stages (2.50 4.40 3.70) 4.2len.

5. CRESTA RUN: 53.5 6 (Dale Spriggs) trapped wide early and worked around the field to join the leader (Strada) near the 800m, made a race of it with the favourite until near the 200m where the work mid-race took its toll and the effort should be forgiven (10.00 13.00) 4.4len.

6. Le Celibataire: 55 7 (M Cahill) 2nd settling, 3rd turn (8.00 9.50 7.50) 6.4len.

7. Sumac: 55.5 carr 53.5 1 (K Fujii) 7th settling, 8th turn (14.00 16.00 13.00 14.00) 7.1len.

8. Dead Set Certainty: 53 3 (T Jones) 5th turn (26.00 71.00) 55.1len.

Scr: The Jackal (8), Dynamite Dancer (10), Patronize (11).

Time: 1m23.05s class record (last 600m 36.42s). Off: 2.25.

RACE 6: BD HCP (C3) 1500m Fav: Le Bron ($2.20) 1st

HEAVILY-BACKED LE BRON conceded weight to all of his rivals but a moderate tempo assisted his cause immensely.

When COMARCA crossed and stacked the field up for Rod Quinn, the favourite may have been buried in the ruck but he basically cruised along under the 56.5kg. Circumstances are vastly different carting stacks of weight when the pace is frantic.

Thus, all LE BRON needed was a clear crack down the running and when it came the sixth was over. He's a promising sort for the off-season.

TOLO and GYPSY HONOUR travelled near the winner and boxed on respectably - they can win in this grade, as can pacemaking first-upper Comarca which will tune-up a fraction.

Track: Good

1. LE BRON: C B Hankin, J Papesch, M Cosgrove & K Schirk's br g 4y (Bianconi (USA) - Cousin Peg) 56.5 5 (L Beasley, Trainer: Joseph Pride) settled third and enjoyed the run of the race one out and one back to the turn where he was now looking for the way clear, the split came near the 250m and he quickly gathered momentum to join in soon after and pinched what eventually was a winning break ($2.80 $3.10 $2.20 fav).

2. TOLO: b g 4y (Snippets - Raise A Ransom) 53 11 (D Spriggs, Trainer: Oliver Koolman) settled 8th, improved very wide with cover to be 7th on the turn following Stable Talk into the straight, kept trying in the preferred best ground over the final 300m as others closer in (14.00 20.00 17.00) 1/2len.

3. GYPSY HONOUR: ch g 4y (Covetous - Frisky Gypsy) 56 carr 54 1 (K Fujii, Trainer: Kevin Moses) settled 5th but raced on the rails to the turn, made his run closer to the inside than most and the effort was sound (12.00 11.00 13.00) 1/2len, hd.

4. COMARCA: 53 8 (R Quinn) led after pressing forward from a wide gate, was joined by the winner near the 200m and though race fitness told from that point it was an effort suggesting he should be followed (17.00 26.00 20.00 21.00) 2.1len.

5. PICULET: 53.5 9 (T Jones) 11th to turn (11.00 8.00 9.50 8.50) 2.4len.

6. Stable Talk: 55 12 (J Penza) jumped quickly but angled back from the wide gate to settle 7th, raced very wide without cover to the turn and failed to run on over the final 200m after the early work took its toll (6.50 8.00 7.50 8.00) 2.9len.

7. Swarthy: 53 4 (J Innes) 6th settling, 8th turn (4.40 8.00) 3.4len.

8. Policy: 53 6 (G Buckley) 10th settling, 9th turn (16.00 26.00) 4.5len.

9. Aurville: 53 10 (G Ryan) 2nd to turn (19.00 31.00) 5.3len.

10. Andrology: 53.5 7 (Z Purton) 4th settling, 3rd turn (11.00 15.00) 6len.

11. Picaro: 53 3 (D Langridge) 12th to the turn (31.00 51.00) 6.7len.

12. Montecito: 53 2 (B Stanley) 9th settling, 10th turn (26.00 61.00) 8.4len.

Scr: Damaze (13).

Time: 1m30.98s (last 600m 35.64s). Off: 3:05.

RACE 7: CENTENARY INSTITUTE HCP (C6) 2000mFav: Amianan ($2.40) 4th

BOLTER GREEN SUN was another example of a topweight being assisted by a conservative pace.

Not only had this son of Desert Sun (GB) never been tried over such a trip, his 58.5kg was widely thought to be too great a burden. Thus, the long price.

Perhaps if the tempo been quicker he would have struggled, but TIS MAIZING and ROYAL NINJA did their first 1400m in 1m30.04s - not fast at all.

Green Sun slipstreamed them, defied a challenge from favourite AMIANAN, then clung on gamely from lighter-weighted OCTOBER SON and FRESCANTE which headed nearer the inside. They charged late but the pace cruelled them.

Desert War's half-brother Amianan shouldn't be sacked prematurely. He did enjoy a cushy sit but this was only start number six and he jumped from 1500m in one fell swoop.

1. GREEN SUN: J & Mrs G Karakatsanis, P Bobb, G Dougherty, J Kazzi & A R Fisher's b g 5y (Desert Sun (GB) - Crown And Sceptre (USA) 58.5 7 (C Karakatsanis, Trainer: Tony Karakatsanis) raced outside the leader early before gaining cover near the 1100m to be in third spot one off the fence, angled to the best ground on the turn and sustained a strong run from that point as the second and third horses who were racing closer to the inside swamped him near the line ($17.00 $31.00 $21.00).

2. OCTOBER SON: b g 4y (Octagonal (NZ) - Monkani (NZ) 57.5 carr 55.5 1 (K Fujii, Trainer: John Hawkes) settled 5th, was 6th on the turn where pushed along, kept trying in a brave effort as he raced closer to the inside than most (4.60 6.00 4.80) sht nk.

3. FRESCANTE: ch m 4y (Peintre Celebre (USA) - Amwag (USA) 53 2 (D Langridge, Trainer: Bede Murray) settled 7th after a poor start, was 11th on the turn where near the inside as the majority fanned wider, continued to put in nearer the inside than the majority in a similar effort to October Son (16.00 9.00 11.00) sht nk, sht hd.

4. AMIANAN: 53 3 (Z Purton) settled 4th and enjoyed a good run to the turn where the jockey found the best ground, was asked to improve soon after and despite looming up near the 200m others finished stronger despite a copybook ride (2.50 2.70 2.25 2.40 fav) 1len.

5. LUTALO: 56 carr 54 4 (Ms K O'Hara) 6th settling, 5th turn (6.50 9.50) 1.3len.

6. Tis Maizing: 53.5 6 (Brent Stanley) led to the turn (17.00 26.00 21.00) 1.9len.

7. Hasta Manana: 56 5 (M Cahill) 9th settling, 10th turn (13.00 17.00) 2len.

8. Brough Superior: 53 8 (G Ryan) 11th settling, 12th turn (17.00 31.00) 3.3len.

9. Al's Flyer: 54 9 (Dale Spriggs) settled 12th, was taken wide in the best ground to improve near the 600m then raced without cover to the turn, despite being in the preferred wider ground in the straight, failed to look a threat (5.50 8.50 8.00) 4.5len.

10. Dr Loane: 53.5 10 (T Jones) 10th settling, 8th turn (41.00 71.00) 6.3len.

11. Clontaago: 53 12 (R Quinn) 8th settling, 7th turn (31.00 51.00) 6.4len.

12. Royal Ninja: 53 11 (S Moses) 2nd turn (15.00 51.00) 9.5len.

All started.

Time: 2m04.67s (last 600m 34.63s). Off: 3.50.

RACE 8: NICK ROBIN MEMORIAL HCP 1500mFav: Bentley Biscuit ($1.75) 1st

FLASHY chestnut BENTLEY BISCUIT continued the meteoric rise by careering home with his sixth win.

Acceleration is the key factor in any top galloper's armoury and this son of Pentre Celebre deftly switched lead legs to race away from more experienced rivals.

We've never seen 'The Biscuit' present in better order - he's thriving for Gai Waterhouse and the best is surely yet to come.

Ever honest, MR UBIQUITOUS did throw down a fleeting charge but this is as close as he'll ever get to the winner. In fact, they will probably never race each other again.

KABLAMMO did come in for support but he's just not going that well. Spotting weight and a start to Bentley Biscuit is proving an increasingly formidable task.

1. BENTLEY BISCUIT: Mrs G M Waterhouse & G W Mooratoff's ch g 4y (Peintre Celebre (USA) - Tycoon Joy) 55.5 4 (L Beasley, Trainer: Gai Waterhouse) settled third and enjoyed a good run in transit he, was 4th on the turn where the jockey found the best ground, he sustained a strong run over the final 350m to maintain his unbeaten record in impressive fashion ($1.70 $1.85 $1.75 fav).

2. MR UBIQUITOUS: b g 5y (Tale Of The Cat (USA) - Zahra (NZ) 53.5 7 (Z Purton, Trainer: Chris Waller) angled back to settle 8th, still 8th on the turn where taken to the extreme outside to improve, kept trying, maintaining his consistent record but again finding one better on the day (7.00 9.50 9.00 9.50) len.

3. PRIME CENTURY: br g 6y (Centaine - Pirouette (NZ) 57.5 10 (M Cahill, Trainer: Graeme Rogerson) pressed across from the wide gate to lead early, was one of a line of leaders on the turn but was claimed soon after then plugged away honestly without looking a winning threat (31.00) len, 3/4len.

4. ROGUE'S GALLERY: 53 3 (D Spriggs) settled 7th, saved ground on the turn as others fanned wider then kept trying in an honest effort closer to the inside than most with the preferred ground wider out (17.00 41.00) 2.2len.

5. NEWTON'S RINGS: 55.5 carr 53.5 5 (Ms K O'Hara) pushed forward to settle 2nd, still 2nd but raced three wide to the turn, his run reached a peak near the 200m after becoming unsuited in transit, forgive run (6.00 6.50) 3.5len.

6. Kosta Nothin': 54 8 (G Buckley) 6th settling, 7th turn (16.00 21.00) 4.2len.

7. Kablammo: 58 carr 56 9 (K Fujii) 10th to turn (7.00 8.50) 4.4len.

8. My Chanticleer: 53 6 (M A Cahill) 9th turn (41.00 61.00 31.00 41.00) 8.6len.

9. Heraklid: 53 1 (B Stanley) 4th settling, led to turn (41.00 301.00) 11len.

10. Rinehart: 54 carr 53 2 (D Greville) 6th turn (26.00 41.00 26.00 31.00) 12.6len.

Scr: Evasion (8).

RACE 9: THE ESSENCE RESTAURANT HCP (C6) 1100m Fav: Octanee ($4.00) 8th

EX-HONG KONG campaigner MAJESTIC FEELING returned in sparkling fashion for Kim Waugh to blow more familiar rivals away.

Big and heavy like many of the Unbridled's Song (USA) breed, he was prepared in excellent style first-up and looked beaut - despite not having raced since March in Hong Kong when 14th of 14, beaten 30 lengths.

The bay did trial smoothly at Rosehill recently and ran right up to that performance to sit wide throughout, then overhaul pacy ZACERADA.

This wasn't a bad effort by the runner-up which duelled with ROADHOG until straightening and almost got the money.

PELENNIUM flashed up. Not far off the winner 300m out, he only got going late and will be improved by the outing - as will OUR APACHE.

1. MAJESTIC FEELING: A W K Chow & M H Tong's b g 5y (Unbridled's Song (USA) - Tennis) 56 12 (J Grisedale, Trainer: Ms K Waugh) eased across from the wide gate to settle 8th, taken to the extreme outside on straightening and continually made ground down the preferred path in an excellent Australian debut ($41.00 $61.00 $41.00).

2.
